Colleyville Newborn Photography * Hiiiii! I met baby Sienna a little while ago!! She was just a perfect newborn baby! Lots of people ask me when a baby is considered a newborn still…
The newborn stage is the first four weeks of a baby’s life. During this time, your baby will undergo a lot of physical and developmental changes. They will sleep most of the day and wake up only for feeding and diaper changes. You may also notice that your baby has a startle reflex, which is common at this age.
Your baby’s appearance will also change during this time. They may have a cone-shaped head from the pressure of birth, and their skin may be covered in a waxy substance called vernix. You may also notice that their eyes are not fully developed yet, and they can only focus on objects that are about eight to ten inches away. It is absolutely normal for newborns to cross their eyes at this time! Their muscles are just not strong yet to gain control over the movements.
